Thinking about getting a G5 to monitor Cleveland Co P25. Anyone in the area using one? I’d like to see one in use before taking the plunge. Is the programming any worse than the BCD436?

I want to be able to monitor Cleveland Co from the far eastern side of Polk Co. roughly 35 miles, mostly flat but definitely trees. Will this be possible or pushing it? Hence the reason I’d like to try before I buy one. Anyone monitoring other systems from a slight distance?

There's not a huge learning curve for the G5 plus there are plenty of existing users to help out if you get stuck. I have had one for a couple of years and monitor Meck UASI flawlessly on a daily basis. IMO, if you are serious P25 monitor the G5 (or G4) is a no-brainer.

The G5 is not 100 percent perfect on my simulcast system, but it is better than any scanner I have tried. I have not tried the SDS100. I am glad I made the choice I did.
