Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have never seen a Baofeng that scans between limits like a scanner does. They are mainly used as programmable two way radios with a VFO for entering frequencies to be saved. Their scan rate is absolutely awful as well, it would probably take an hour to go through the two limits one time that you indicated. So the answer would be no, they are not designed for that.

Baofeng radios are not designed to do that.
As far as I know the only way is to use Chirp programming software to set the upper and lower VFO frequency limits to 144.3 and 148.0.
If you do that then you will lose the ability to program any frequency outside that range via the front panel.

IMO, your objective is impractical. Assuming you are scanning the FM repeaters for activity, the problem with a full bandscan of the 2m band is different spacings--15 or 20 kHz--for repeater outputs above and below 146 MHz. Stepping at 5 kHz just means stopping before and after the repeater output frequency.

The BTECH uv-5X3 can do that. When entering scan mode, it asks for a start and end frequency.
