Hello all,

I just erected center dipole antenna. It had a balun with female F connector. All I did was to connect the male F connector to hook to the antenna. And on the other end, I soldered BNC male that goes to the radio. Scanner is working fine. Just out of curiosity I performed a continuity test using a multimeter. Lo and behold, I noticed short between center and outside connection of the BNC male plug. I performed similar test with my other discone antenna plug and it doesn't show short.

I should have performed this test before erecting the antenna! Well, I thought I should ask here first. Erecting atenna was not fun to say the least. Again, the question is simply if it is normal to show continuity on the feedline.

Thanks.

Balun with F connector usually consists of a transformer that have almost zero ohm when measured witha multimeter. The impedance at RF frequencies are probably 10-100 ohm. I.E. nothing wrong with your antenna installation.
