BCT15X and BC996xlt Problem

Someone got a BC996xlt but for some reason he turn it on and it is a BCT15X he payed for a BC996xlt .Is there a way to fix this . It seam really odd .

a real BCD 996XT says right above the screen:

Is that the opening screen or above the screen as eaf1956 advised? If it's just the opening screen then that's okay. It just needs to be edited.
Is the box for a BCD996XT or BCT15X?
Where was it purchased? Did it appear factory packaged? Someone may have did a swap and return.

The top say 996xlt .If you would like to get all the info it on Uniden Scanners on face book . It really odd .There pic's and videos .

if you use freescan it can change the splash screen.

Joined the facebook group. Everyone is suspecting the internals were swapped.
I guess you can hold 2 and 9 to reset it, which yielded no changes.

I wonder if some DumbA$$ installed the incorrect firmware. If that is even possible. A 996XT does NOT have Set BearTracker in the menu. At least mine doesn't!

Right, so it's a BCT15.

Or a 996xt that someone put 15x firmware in.

see if it can copy digital signals like a trunked system, if it does its a 996xt, otherwise its a 15x which is only analogue.

Someone may have just loaded some bad info in the opening screen of the original 15x.

I think if I was doing it I would try to put 996xt firmware in the scanner. But that's just me.
