I know, I know... It is not used on many systems in the major metro PS areas. But many of us have been asking... Begging for this to be developed.
If Uniden and Proscan or Arcsoft could do it, (Pay royalties as I'm sure that would be required for this older technology), it would make a lot of us happy.

Just trying to keep this on the burner so maybe... Someday... It might come to fruition.

Please, pretty please with cream and sugar.

I remember reading a story about how when the eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes learned that his favorite flavor of ice cream (peppermint chip) was going to be discontinued by the dairy that made it, he bought the dairy just so they'd continue producing this otherwise unmarketeable flavor of ice cream.

So in other words, unless your name is Jeff Bezos and you are willing to privately fund the R&D for Uniden to develop it, it just ain't gonna happen.

Any takers on this?

Fun Facts | Baskin-Robbins

  • Howard Hughes once became quite fond of Baskin-Robbins Banana Nut ice cream, so his aides tried to purchase a bulk shipment for him. Sadly, they discovered the flavor had been discontinued. They put in a request for the smallest amount the company could provide for a special order, 350 gallons (1,300 Liters). It was shipped from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, where Hughes lived at the time on the top floor of the Desert Inn. That's the hotel he bought after they tried to evict him. A few days after the order arrived, Hughes announced he was tired of Banana Nut and only wanted French Vanilla ice cream. The Desert Inn ended up distributing free Banana Nut ice cream to casino customers for a full year until the 350 gallons were gone.

Uniden support, sadly I didn't win the mega millions so I will have to decline, at least for now.

I would like to know how new features are looked at. I think everyone can figure out the basics; how much will it cost, price margin, is it even possible at a price point people would be willing to pay for.

Radio Reference is a great place, honestly, but I have a hard time believing that you could reach even 25% of your market base (Just throwing out a number) but THIS base has a lot of knowledge (and yes complaints/crybabies).

So I guess, my question is how does something get elevated to a priority? LSM is a problem that needed to be solved and by most reports the SDS line is addressing that. The next was the power issue with the mobile/desktop units and sudden loss of power MIGHT corrupt the SDCard. That seems to have been a major complaint in the X36 line as well, that has not been addressed in the SDS mobile/desktop line (per the manual).
Please don't get me wrong, P25, NXDN, DMR, EDACS, are great and are needed for many people. LSM solution is even greater. But where do you get the priority list from? The Beta testers? Surveys sent out to people that bought your products? Going through forums and Facebook groups?

Is there an email address to make suggestions (slight poke at UPMan's comment on another thread), but honestly, what would be best to have a update or added functionality some would like to have included. (Man, I hope it isn't post count here, LOL).

I do thank Uniden and everyone involved as you are breaking trail in the scanner industry. Just looking for answers.

Thank you for your time

I know it isn't on a scanner, but on my XTS2500 VHF, I can see the MDC of whoever keys up. I have been told it is also possible to put a "tag" to the corresponding MDC so you will know who it is in your radio. Kind of like the radio ID in a TRS system. If they (the makers of scanners) can do that with TRS, how hard could it be to do it for MDC? Don't go flaming at me about that, I'm just a user, not a programmer.

I'd sure like to know how Uniden could be responsible for SD Card corruption with a power loss. Any SD card can become corrupted in a camera, a computer, etc. if the power is suddenly lost.

Sudden power loss, in a mobile environment. Wired into a keyed power source. Currently you have 3 wires for DC power source; ground, 12+, and Dimming of display.

So, if you have Replay enabled, and a signal is received, the unit writes to the SDcard, if power is removed while writing to the card the chance of corruption is greatly increased.

"Turn off the scanner, before to turn off the vehicle" That is not a real solution. Imagine, if you will, every time you physically turn off your vehicle you had to turn off your stereo in your car first, or risk losing everything and being unable to even use your stereo until you pulled your SDcard and took it in and fixed it on your computer. Plus add into the fact of wear and tear, the less you have to move a knob or push a button, the less likely it will fail.

"Don't have replay enabled in your car, problem solved" is not an answer. Again with the stereo analogy, this problem only happens with AM or FM or Sat radio. Just don't use it in a mobile environment isn't a realistic answer.
