I have an SDS 200 at a remote location connected to a computer. Is there any way to remotely force it into USB mode and then out of USB mode?

How is it connected to the PC? Ethernet?

By "USB mode" do you mean mass storage? Sending MSM,## will put the scanner into mass storage mode for ## seconds.

I have it connected to the PC in serial mode so I can monitor and control the scanner which is necessary in this application.

In addition to the Mass Storage mode, the SDS200 is capable of FTP. If using the FTP read only account then the monitoring of the scanner is not interrupted while reading. Using the FTP writable account puts the scanner into FTP mode while writing to the scanner SD card so the monitoring will be interpreted, similar to Mass Storage mode.
