158.40 DCS 412

On 158.40 DCS 412 I have been logging (from my location in Colorado Springs) Medical Helicopters being dispatched. They seem to be in the Denver area. Any ideas of which company this is? Thanks, Mick

Air Evac Lifeteam uses/used 158.4 and 151.505 as temporary frequencies in lots of different locations but I don't know if they operate in that part of the country. Those are commonly used itinerant business channels so it is probably somebody else.

Air Methods is also licensed for nationwide itinerant base stations on 158.4 so more likely it's them than AEL.

The medical helicopter you are hearing is "Children's 1." It's a custom Airbus H130 T2 helicopter specifically outfitted to care for pediatrics.

That would be REACH's communication center. REACH took over the Children's operation a few months ago with another helicopter of the same model. A bit interesting since Children's and Flight for Life did a bunch of PR when they first launched, but haven't said a thing about switching providers. There also doesn't seem to really be a photo of their new helicopter either.
