Background noise

Setting up a feed and for the life of me I cant figure out how to kill the background noise my computer is picking up. It picks up the TV or any other noise in my house. I have a Jack running from my uniden 436 bcd to my laptop but no dice. Any help would be appreciated

Are you using a USB sound card? I don't run my feed on a laptop now (I use a raspberry pi), but when I was testing it that's what I used. I had no background noise with a cheap USB sound card from Amazon.

Be sure that the feed is not using built-in mic on the laptop as that will pick up everything happening in the background around the laptop's location.

Obviously, it is picking up audio from the microphone. Question is why and how to stop it.

Did you open up the mixer and mute the mic input?
