Thanks! I'm talking about this system and how to manually program it into my current scanners. https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?siteId=32572 It's 3 freqs so would it be P25=Standard Trunk or how would I manually program it? I assume I don't hear anything cuz my current radios are not Phase 2, or nothing being aired yet, or programmed in wrong? Great idea about getting scan list set up! I live on edge of 2 counties so need both but need to keep them separate as well.
Your correct it's P25 Standard for the system type. But it's entirely Phase 2, So a Phase 1 only radio won't receive anything trunking wise. (Although it would appear to be working properly, you won't actually get an active TG out of a PH1 radio on this system)

155.670 CC (Most probably active)
154.680 SCC (Alternate CC/They occasionally switch, but usually not for long)
These would be the frequencies needed in you programing for that site.

The site's online so you should "hear" the CC in a conventional mode/search/scan; if your within range..
Should see a NAC of 945 from the CC at least. (Provided the radio displays NAC, and the DB is correct)
I hope this makes sense..
What other radio are you trying to program?

I'm not sure how much of this really long thread you've read through, but it's worth mentioning that even with a Phase II capable scanner like the SDS100, you are not going to hear any PSP activity on this system, as all of their talkgroups are encrypted.

Well, I seen that and was hoping that was an assumption from the Opensky system, so am hoping its an assumption while they leave dispatch in the open while encrypting TAC stuff like was talked about before Opensky. That sure hurts after spending $800 with accessories but still need a Phase 2 radio. I went from 40-50 scanners (conv/Analog trunk to 2 digital, soon to be 3 digital so it is what it is.

It was confirmed long ago, PSP is fully encrypted on all talkgroups.

Yes, PSP will be the primary mobile users. Other agencies may as well, but I know that PGC will have very few mobiles, and the representative from DCNR said that they're satisfied with the portable coverage so far for their use.

Any word on when DCNR will be testing in NW PA?

Thanks, Mike.
Eventually, Someone will snag the NL & confirm usage of the additional frequencies.. (y)

It looks like Central PA is a wrap, Just waiting for Oxford 1.69 CHES96 to come online. :sneaky:
Unless there's a surprise...

DVRS (Digital Vehicular Repeater System) confirmed as using the state's allocation of 700 MHz frequencies. These are low power, intended to give the portable radios greater range on the P25 system by going through the mobile radio. More about how they work in this post I made a few months back. So far 1600 DVRS have been deployed, with 3000 additional planned.

This is the current DVRS utilization plan, broken down first by groups of counties, then by frequencies (45 total so far). I'm going to split this into three separate posts so that it's not one giant single post. This stuff probably ought to make its way into the wiki at some point, which is not really my cup of tea, so anyone is welcome to go ahead and dump it in there.

A few notes:
  • 773.04375 is common to all counties
  • Indiana and Luzerne counties are on two different lists
  • Adams, Blair, Clinton, Elk, and Juniata counties are missing from the plan

Are the frequencies listed above trunked in the statewide P25 radio system or are the being utilized as conventional with digital voice for comms..

They are being used for vehicular repeaters (essentially range extenders). Please re-read the first paragraph of my initial post and check the link I put to an older post where I explain their usage.

Erie County already has a UHF site on the system, 1.17 Lawrence Park. The only UHF site, in fact, so them adding another isn't really that surprising. Could be they reached some sort of agreement with the commonwealth to have UHF sites for better interop with the county's new UHF P25 system.

Regarding the DVRS, do the users have the option to turn it on versus connect directly to a tower? Is this handled automatically based on signal strength? I'm just thinking, troopers in Red Lion, York County are getting the standard channel grant "dit dit dit" on their radios, and there's a tower in Red Lion. I wonder if they're connected directly to the tower. Or maybe the channel grant tone still sounds even when using the DVRS?
