• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am trying to program my G5 on Sacramento's new P25 P1 system. Running into a lot of issues with "Out of Range" and cannot get it to connect. Is the Sacramento system (used to be SmartZone) not compatible with the G5 pager? TIA

A P25 Phase 1 system is definitely compatible. Programming Unication radios is a bit more complex than programming a scanner, so that's probably this issue - unless you live outside of the system's service area.

Make sure you enter the site number as hex and not decimal.

SRRCS works on my G5 - or did when I last tried, a couple of months ago - I live in a neighboring county.

Occasionally my G5 would not take one or more of the WACN, Sysid, SiteID, or RFSS. One those systems, I just set them to wildcards (all FF's) and let the G5 figure it out. This also works for systems with multiple sites with different control channels. Just merge your CC's set all the previous parameters to wild card and it works.

Mine works great, I get "out of range" for Roseville inside the house but if I put my Motorola antenna on or go outside it's no problem. Sacramento though, is no problem and has never dropped out.

Are codeplugs allowed to be shared when it comes to pagers? If so, could someone share a copy of a working Sacramento system G5 codeplug?

I can probably put something together later today, if no one else beats me to it. Where are you located?

Here's a basic profile for SRRCS. It works on both SimulCast and Twitchell Island sites from my location in east Contra Costa county (using an outdoor antenna). The Downtown Folsom site is in there too, but I (obviously?) can't hear that here. There are two example knob positions - 1 is Trunking TG-Monitor (any and all TGs) and 2 is County Fire TGs.
