Collin County 700

I have been playing with some frequencies assigned to Collin County.

While I am not seeing a SID header I am getting a Control channel with a really good signal strength from Blue Ridge down to the tower at Farmersville. They have added 4 microwave antenna's on Farmersville pointed to obvious directions indicating simulcast. A buddy of mine is a Constable in McKinney (PCT 4) and he said they are all up in arms because LE is not going to be publicly accessible (whatever that means). I did see a extension request on their FCC license so it looks like the system isn't too close to being ready yet. But something to keep an eye on I guess.

If he stated LE is not going to be publicly accessible he might/probably means Enc.
I believe from initial mentions of the system they are not a year behind schedule. At this rate they will be two years behind schedule when it finally comes online.

I was up in McKinney over the weekend and noticed a new 400 ft. or so free-standing tower on the NE side of town, possibly behind the county public works center on Wilmeth, with about 6 or 7 "green stick" antennas. I didn't get a chance to check the new 700 channels but I'd guess it's not too far out from being on the air. I did notice, however, that reception on the old Smartzone system was noticeably improved in town.

I was up in McKinney a couple of weeks ago. Went up there with a close friend for BBQ.

I tried the 700MHz frequencies on my SDS100. Was getting a signal, but no site or other system information shown. Just a constant signal. Perhaps testing?

Its been like that for months. I saw 2 of the frequencies active but had no system info being broadcast on them.
