ODOT in Portland metro region seems to have finally switched over to the trunked system. Lots of new talkgroups. Anyone listening, especially with bad weather coming?

I'll switch over to the Mt Hood tower (have a good line of sight here in central Oregon) and check it out. Thanks Jeremy!

Everything I've seen so far today is in the RR database.

In Portland there is a lot of activity on the talkgroups labeled D2B or D2C ops. It appears the Ops replaces the old color flagging simplex VHF channels. But there seems to be multiple one for each district, just don’t know their names.

I heard on one of the ops talkgroups a couple of ODOT guys chatting that each ODOT office/yard has two or three dedicated ops channels. Also it seems like 40126 is District 2B Incident Response Dispatch. I haven't listened to the Portland system to see if its patched. I heard a couple of IR guys talking to dispatch that they were on their new radios.

Ok, cool. I noticed some updates today. :)

I was looking through my DSDPlus.groups file and realized I have a bunch of talk group numbers that aren't listed in the database. Is there a forum to go where I can look at other people's incomplete lists and ideas for unknown talk groups and post what I have? When I say incomplete, I'm referring to listings where we've had either a radio request (no actual voice count), or we have a talk group with several voice counts but haven't yet figured out who we're listening to? As an example from site 16.16:

P25, 9254A.00A, 40552, 5, Normal, 1626, 2020/01/27 16:05, "ODOT Flaggers?"

I added the "ODOT Flaggers?" as a note for myself (as used in my other examples) as this talk group, when I've heard it, has ALWAYS been two or three people obviously flagging. (EG: "Sending two your way." "Copy" "Have three coming" "Okay" "School bus coming through" <--- all day talk of only this type.)

I also have several others that don't appear listed, such as:

P25, 9254A.00A, 38129, 2, High, 44714, 2020/01/28 6:47, "OSP? 1"
P25, 9254A.00A, 38131, 2, High, 724, 2020/01/28 3:39, "OSP? 2"
P25, 9254A.00A, 38334, 2, High, 1, 2019/12/20 18:19, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 40551, 2, High, 570, 2020/01/28 6:32, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 40561, 2, High, 1174, 2020/01/22 14:21, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 40571, 2, High, 7, 2019/11/30 10:17, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 40711, 2, High, 3, 2020/01/22 10:09, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 40723, 2, High, 1, 2019/11/22 11:00, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 40908, 2, High, 11, 2020/01/15 7:55, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 65171, 2, High, 1, 2019/11/15 14:23, ""

I also have a lot of group numbers that have 0 hits, and I assume they're recorded whenever a radio requests authority on a tower. Correct me if I'm wrong. This is a small sample of what I'm referring to.

P25, 9254A.00A, 9042, 50, Normal, 0, 0000/00/00 0:00, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 9052, 50, Normal, 0, 0000/00/00 0:00, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 9908, 50, Normal, 0, 0000/00/00 0:00, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 9909, 50, Normal, 0, 0000/00/00 0:00, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 20401, 50, Normal, 0, 0000/00/00 0:00, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 22701, 50, Normal, 0, 0000/00/00 0:00, ""
P25, 9254A.00A, 43020, 50, Normal, 0, 0000/00/00 0:00, ""

I haven't been recording audio yet, and the threshold of 2 on the examples is something I've only changed today. I didn't realize I had some that were counting but not being listened to - my threshold is generally 45 and the new stuff tags at 50 so I haven't been hearing them as of yet. I'm only a few months into P25 listening and haven't been scanner the airwaves since the 90's. SOOOO much has changed and it's been quite the learning experience!

So is there someplace we can go to help collaborate on what talk groups we have to try to narrow down who they belong to? Or do we just hold onto our personally gleaned information until we have a talk group definitively identified and then do a formal submit?

And I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this question, but after looking around RR it appears to me this is the most appropriate forum, as it seems more of an OSRP question than DSDPlus.

20401 is Lane County Radio Techs 1 off of the SW7 County system
22701 is Linn County Sheriff Events off of the SW7 County system
I haven't heard those two on the system when I've been down there but that's what they are. Some SW 7 talkgroups are linked to the state system.

38131 is probably OSP Springfield 2 but I've not actually heard it so I can't say for sure.

Here are my unconfirmed talkgroups:

OSP:
38129 Unknown Clear Voice - Heard in the Corvallis area. Possibly OSP Corvallis 2 but not sure.

ODOT (Most of these are Ops talkgroups. I'm trying to figure out the district before submitting. Each ODOT yard in the Portland area (and Salem/McMinnville in District 3) has at least 3 different ops talkgroups based on what I've heard some ODOT employees say. Trying to figure out which yard they belong to is difficult. Its easier to figure out the district 2B or 2C based on locations they say over the air):

9052 - I believe this is a Sunriver PD tac, never heard anything on it.
9053 - Heard Sunriver PD here, unencrypted.

9894 to 9909 were testing groups. 9898 was an Announcement Group, but nothing heard since 2017.

9911 - 9917 are DC911 channels, not really sure what they need them for. I've heard dispatcher training on 9914 and 9915. 9911-9913 were encrypted.

Almost all of these haven't had traffic for a few years.

Sweet! Thanks for the added information!

I haven't yet had a chance to cross reference my stuff with yours but I started listening to 38129 and over three days of calls it sounds like OSU security. I don't attend so I don't know if they are OSP or private but all of their calls have been related to campus locations. Kerr Admin, Corley Hall, Gillford Hall, Nash Hall, Parking Garage, Building Lot, Rad Center, The Office, Seed Building, etc, one time one unit was directing traffic, and it sounds like the units carry campus keys. The unit numbers have all been 9xx and 10xx. I haven't heard any other numbers such as the 7xx's 8xx's from the other Corvallis area units.

Hopefully that helps narrow down that talk group somewhat. And if someone else has information on this, please, fill us in!

I'm wondering why when I am in Klamath Falls, I cannot hear anything on this new system. I am a 32 year scanner listener and have had my BCD536 and SDS200 for 4 years and 1 year respectively. Everything I normally listen to (from Redding to Sacramento works fine).
I have programmed the system in manually AND downloaded the Radio Reference database into my scanner. I scan BOTH when I am in south Oregon.
Lately I have set a K Falls zip code programmed and i also scan the database while I am there.
I STILL GET NOTHING on the new Phase Two system. In the system I have programmed I am only monitoring three sites that are in the general area of K Falls. I am thinking when I monitor the FULL DATABASE that it scans ALL SITES?
What the heck am I doing wrong?

That is because the state system does not have any sites that cover Klamath Falls. The closest site to Klamath Falls is Walker Mountain and that is almost 75 miles away from K Falls. You won't pick up the state system unless you get up in north Klamath County by Chemult, Gilchrist, or the Crescent area.

If this is indeed OSP Springfield 2 it appears encrypted. I have over 700 logged hits on it and I haven't heard a peep. As well, over the past fews days, despite some hits there are no recordings from that talk group.

The encrypted talkgroups have a 2 as the third place. So 38231 would be encrypted tac 2. 38131 should be tac 2 unencrypted.

Looking at the RRDB is shows there are three talkgroups in Klamath County. I guess they are just not active yet?

Which takes me back to my original post. Since I am scanning the RR databse while I am there (as well as the VHF channels), why am I not getting anything on the new system? When traffic stops on Klamath Sheriff on VHF, I quickly SCAN my scanner to HOPEFULLY catch the rest of the conversation on the NEW SYSTEM, but I never get that to happen. Is there anyone here that can confirm that they've heard traffic on the NEW SYSTEM?

What Sites are you listening to? I regularly hear Klamath Fire and Law on the Walker Mtn "NEW SYSTEM" site. And to confirm what OREGONSCANNER said, there are no OSRP sites in Klamath Falls. Walker Mtn is as far south as they go. I can usually get Walker Mountain from about MP 241 on HWY 97 and north from there.
