Woot, woot! Picked up a like new pre-owned 8600 today, eBay find but less than 40 miles from me. After 30 minutes I can definitely say it is immensely gratifying.

You are going to love this radio. Take your time with this beast. You won't be disappointed.

Received BBC broadcasting from Oman Tuesday evening, solid signal. Running an MLA-30:loop antenna at 12’ here in our central FL campground. Almost 8k miles. Synchronized detector on usb made for armchair copy. So pleased with the performance.

I’m saving up for the 8600, just maybe they’ll have another big sale. Can’t bring myself to sell my R-30, nothing in a hand held compares.

Awesome! I'm hoping to upgrade to one this summer or Fall. Heard great things about this radio. After owning two 7000's, two 7100's all died and one was "lost" by USPS after repairs. Currently running an 8500 (export version).

Nice will you keep the 8500 as well? I am using the 8600 and AOR DV-1, a fantastic combo for digital COMINT. The 8600 can't be beat on HF IMHO. Amazing radio.
