    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I upgraded one of my family vehicles last year to a Fusion Platimum, and it's a very nice car but too small for me as I am 6'2". So right now I am looking for information as to how anyone else has run main power to up under the hood to the battery, and second where to tap ignition.
For what I have done so far is relocate the 110w Astro Spectra W-9 by installing the trunk pack on plywood mounted upside down to the rear package shelf. The W-9 head fits nicely in center console only blocking the USB connections. I am not sure where I am going to put the speaker yet, but either behind the control head or in place of the center rear package shelf speaker. Antenna is unity gain trunk grip for now.

Should be a grommet on the passenger side behind the glove box if I remember correctly. As for tapping ignition, a not to invasive way is to use a fuse tap. You can find those at any parts store or online. Just find a fuse that's ignition powered and join it. There's certainly other ways to do it but those are clean and easy to remove when the time comes.

And check with Ford before you connect to battery. On a number of Fords, the negative wire should not be attached to the negative terminal.

Red to positive black to chassis ground. The finished product has the factory groment split and back in place with silicone as sealant. Wire loom was also used to protect cabling to up under hood. There is a lot that was done after these photos taken.
I have been doing installs for 48 years I started out doing NY State Police and Westchester County Parkway police cars for a GE shop.

Ok, there are some factory install bulletins from newer fords advising against direct to battery neg installations, as the vehicle senses battery drain via the negative lead & hall effect sensor. It was just recently mentioned on another thread on here, too.

I think it's the new F150s that have a negative terminal just proximal to the battery terminal that all customer equipment should be tied in to.
