G1 PPS

Afternoon all,
I’ve been having some issues with the PPS for my G1. When I enter the tones into the cap codes section (they’re set for Motorola)- I get an error that says that the tones must be greater than 1.55%. These are the correct tones, and one that I was able to put into my Minitor V’s with no issues. I even tried under User Defined, and it won’t let me input them either. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it a PPS error and or a Pager issue?

It means that you have two tone values that are too close, or within 1.55% deviation of one another.
Simply translated - the tones are too close for the pager to reliably tell one from the other.

To fix this, just increase one and decrease the other's values until you clear the 1.55% deviation threshold.

Don't forget, the pager will decode if you aren't exactly on frequency, that is where the 1.55% comes from. So as long as your new value is within 1.55% deviation of your modified value, you should be ok.

I've done this many times as a dealer for different customers.

Here’s are the tones that I’m having issues with - A- 794.7, B- 688.3

On the Minitor V PPS, I could set it under the User tab, and successfully enter the tones...

794.7 x .0155 = 12.31. Let's subtract the deviation value from the main value to get us closer to the B tone
794.7 - 12.31 = 782.39

688.3 x .0155 = 10.66. Let's add the deviation value to the main value to get us closer to the A tone
688.3 + 10.6 = 698.9

These values are 90hz apart. They are not close enough on their own to throw the error you are seeing.

Do you have OTHER values in your tone table that could be causing a problem?
Chances are it isn't these tones but other tones you have defined causing the problem. The error happens when you put these two tones in because there is another tone value on your chart that is too close to either your A or B tone.

if you are setting up a tone table for the same frequency, you'll need to modify your values slightly. But if you are setting up tone on two different frequencies, setup a second tone table for the second frequency to avoid this error.
