• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Those having trouble with RR login; do you have any "funny characters" in your password? i.e. other than letters and numbers? Might be worth trying a simpler password.

I have a long and very complex password with 'funny characters', it works just fine. This was a pretty good idea for troubleshooting.

Unless yours uses every possible funny character that RR allows, that doesn't really tell us anything. There may be just one funny character that needs to be "escaped" (or otherwise handled properly), and it happens that you're not using that one. It's just a guess, but I've seen things like this before.....

I'll wait while you change your password and test out your idea. ;)

I would, except my current password works. The only way to test my idea would be to try changing my password to include every possible character until it stops working. I don't have time for that :p

Well, This update still didn't fix the long tone stored voice bug.

Back to 3.14 15, at least I only upgraded one G5 this time.

Just curious, what are the symptoms of the "long tone bug"? Most everything I had problems with was fixed. Mine works ok with a single long tone, but freaks out when preceded by a short two tone. Two different VHF analog conventional frequencies in a normal scan. I have tested repeatedly with my signal generator but can't change frequencies quickly enough to duplicate the over-the-air environment.

Go into the event viewer, system log and get the event ID number. That should help us figure out what the problem is. There are lots of enets logged, so it is probably best to open event viewer, got to the system log, cause the error in PPS, switch to event viewer and find the error.

Several posts above I put in links for repairing .Net framework and Windows update. You could try running those, it won't hurt anything.

Nope, while I did try a simple password, numbers and letters only, I should not have get rid of a complex password just to make this software work. Every other program that imports for RR works just fine with my semi-complex password.

Mine records 12 less than one second stored voice files on the single long tone. While alerting from that tone it, as you say freaks out or as another member said in another post has a full on seizure.

I spent hours messing with the tone timing and waiting after the last update with no luck.

I too have a mix of upper/lower case, numbers, and symbols and have had no trouble accessing RR. I've done multiple downloads so far, and find this to be a good experience with a simple and easy to manage interface.
