Problems Creating Custom "Alert Tones" in .wav or .mp3

I have been trying to create custom "Alert Tones" to use with my G5 pager. I am using Audacity to create either .wav or .mp3 files, but my G5 pager does NOT seem to like them. Not sure if the G5 requires specific encoding of the file? I import to PPS, and can play the tone through my PC, but my pager creates a very low pitched version of the tone, which does not represent the actual frequency that it should be (1800 hz beeps).

Anyone able to offer help on this topic?

Check what the G5 requires - Maybe 16 bit 22,00 sampling or something like that. I know the APX radios need the file with certain parameters set.

It is probably overkill, but my custom mp3 files for G5 programming is saved at 192 kbps bit rate at 44100 Hz Sample Rate

I've played with Balabolka in the past, for voice prompts. I tried it again just now, and it still works. The (default) WAV fails are 16kHz 16 bit mono.

I was using an online service from odd sock to generate them. Now I used a paid service called speechelo. I save the mp3's and then quickly edit them with Audacity. One of these days I'll put a video together on the process.

if the default .WAVs are mono, @FP761 are the .MP3s you are making mono as well? It might not take stereo files.
