Hello,

I'm the provider of the Indianapolis Department Of Public Safety Calls system.

I've been told that listeners cannot access a few talk-groups within the Calls system and receive the error "This Group ID can only be accessed by system broadcaster or an admin".

I'm assuming this is because the talk groups are tagged "Law Tac"? If that is the case, is there anyway we can change the function tag on these. They are used as a secondary dispatch channel.

System:

Talkgroups:

10119 2787 D MET-CD2 Downtown District Secondary Law Tac
10110 277e D MET-ED2 East District Secondary Law Tac
10107 277b D MET-NO2 North District Secondary Law Tac
10104 2778 D MET-NW2 Northwest District Secondary Law Tac
10113 2781 D MET-SE2 Southeast District Secondary Law Tac
10116 2784 D MET-SW2 Southwest District Secondary Law Tac

Thanks!

Seems like a good argument for folks to buy their own scanners.... And listen to what they want..

From the Database Admin Handbook,

"The RR database entities (e.g., frequencies, talkgroups, categories, subcategories, descriptions, alpha tags, etc.) shall never be added, removed, named, renamed or changed to adjust them for a specific device, product or consumer of RR data."

Not sure if that falls under your request. Our secondary dispatch channels locally are tagged Law-Talk because they are primarily used for NCIC, Records, Service, etc.

You'd be better off making a database submission than posting about it here. That way the DB Admins that take care of that area will see it.

If their primary function is tactical and are simply being used for alternate dispatch from time to time, we won't change the function tags; if they're legitimate alternate dispatch channels we can review the request and make a change if justified.

IMPD 2's are mainly tactical/car to car until an active event. In this they become the primary TG, and the event is on the 1's. If the event expands, or an second event happens, 1's and 2's become the event operational, and primary is the encrypted 3's. Until one of the IC's uses their brains and takes it to the S1 Tacs. So if we were to make changes then by our rules NO IMPD can be broadcast as they are all TACS technically. Lets not go there. On CALLS.. from what I monitor, its anything goes for folks with premium except what the feeder has blocked out. Tacticals all day long on many of the nodes. With Marion County LEA's, the only new changes made were made due to the "Peaceful Protests" during the last year. Now if an possible event like those is expected, all primary communications are moved to the 3's with full encryption, and ERT/SWAT etc goes to the NEW S1 encrypted tacs. Sheriff's Office takes all primary to the Warrant Team TG with full encryption, and SO ERT/SWAT goes to their Ops Command, Ops 1, Ops 2 fully encrypted TG's.
