I'm trying to monitor the busy NYCOMCO Illinois Mtn.(or Walker Mtn.) DMR trunked system on a BCD325P2 scanner. I'm using the LCN in the Radio Reference database. It seems that some of the frequencies are not being tracked, others are. For instance, when I Hold on 462.1625 MHz. I hear activity which is not heard when scanning. When in Hold all the frequencies show NET 121 S0001, which is Illinois Mtn. Maybe someone in the Hudson Valley area with a scanner with LCN Finder can check this system. It's extremely busy in snowy weather - including my city (Poughkeepsie) DPW and many other highway departments.

The RR database listing is correct according to the DSD+ monitoring I did this evening.

I've never had great results trying to track DMR trunking, including the NYCOMCO Walker Mtn site with the BCD325P2.

Using both my 325 and my BCD436HP side by side, the 325 does an awful job of accurately tracking the system. I've never had any luck with Uniden Tech Support with the issue either. I simply moved on to use the 436 for that and use the 325 for other things.

I have placed my work radio that is on the sytem next to my 325. My 325 is hit or miss, It all depends on how strong of a signal I have coming from the site. Also NYCOMCO has a few frequencies duplicated at various sites which might cause some issues if you're in a location that has overlapping coverage. Make sure you have the correct color codes programmed for the site frequencies/

This post from Paul Opitz gives a clue why the P2 scanners may not perform as well as the BCDx36HP on DMR and NXDN. The firmware author has apparently cut corners to jam the code into a very tight storage space.

Lack of remaining codespace limits what we can do on all existing models, including HP-2. We barely were able to fit NXDN into the BCD996P2/BCD325P2 release (why it took so long to come out after the other models).

Thanks for the replies. After more careful monitoring (which I should've done before posting!), I can now confirm the 325 is hearing all the Radio Reference LCN except 462.4625 MHz. Listened to that one conventional, not scanning, for hours yesterday afternoon and heard nothing. Is it still in the system LCN?

In the screenshot the lower right window shows the active frequencies. 461.6875 and 462.4625 were not in the rotation when I monitored the site. Note that 461.6875 is also listed on the Denning site. Denning is not receivable here so I can't confirm its usage. Some frequencies in the database LCN charts may not be in use.

I have done some monitoring on 461.6875 and there are LTR idle bursts being transmitted every 11 seconds. Years ago NYCOMCO did have a LTR site on Illinois Mountain but I assumed it was converted to DMR. The frequency line-up of the old LTR site is below.

Using LTR-Analyzer I confirmed that 461.6875 is area 0, channel 1 and 462.4875 is area 0, channel 3. The other frequencies are inactive so far. There has been no voice traffic at all on this site for the past two days. I will monitor it for a few more days to see if there is any activity.

464.7875 is now Modena/Clintondale's repeater output frequency.

Thanks for the update on 464.7875.

LTR-Analyzer has been monitoring 461.6875 for the past three days and no activity was logged. The site appears to be just two channels, 461.6875 and 462.4875. Like the Millbrook EDACS site, this one seems to be a ghost site with no activity. Why does NYCOMCO waste the electricity and equipment?

To keep the license.

Yup, frequency hoarding. The same reason they're all of a sudden licensing new 800 frequencies at EDACS sites in Orange County that have been off the air for a year or more since the county's P25 system went online.
