• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

First post so Hello and excuse my tardiness!

I’ve played with a couple of 6 channel HT600 for 10 years or so. These are great radios. I got rid of the old laptop I used to program them with - forgot why i even kept it until I needed to reprogram them! But I found a solution that works on Win 7, possibly Win 10 but I haven’t tried. I created a bootable DOS USB drive using a free program called Rufus. Loaded the HT600 RSS on it and it works!!!! I may do a YouTube vid on this.

One question: I’ve heard about moving the channel selector stops but I can’t find any information or pictures of how to do this

The switch is six position.
Pull the knobs off, warm up the top of the radio to loosen the sticky stuff holding the escutcheon on, then carefully pry the escutcheon off.
There is a metal hex sided "stop" that you pry loose from the glue.
Then rotate the metal "stop" to the around four o'clock position and stick it all back down.
This assumes that you have the program or the know how to change the radio from a 2 or 4 channel to a six channel.

Thanks, My radios are 6 channel but I have seen some 2 channels selling for pennies at the flee market before. I may end up picking a few up now that I have the programming down. I have 2to6 saved on a hard drive somewhere.

I’m just now getting back into the old Motos now that I’m semi retired.

Just added the GP300 RSS to my bootable DOS USB drive. Works like 1995! Next stop HT1000

I have a dozen P110's too... And probably a dozen VISAR's. Probably several others that I have a dozen of. I REALLY need to get
rid of stuff.

Well, I *did* help reduce it just a little...

Yes, you did. And I appreciate that!

Let me know if you want to sell one or two VHF HT600 or other VHF Genesis. Even 2 channel would interest me.
