MURS Antenna help

Hi. So I'm setting up a base antenna for MURS using a TERA 505 handheld. So I ordered a Browning 6051 antenna because it had a a 144-167 range. I was sent this one instead. Tram BR-6051 Pre-tuned Fiberglass Base Antenna - VHF 2M Land Mobile MURS 115-170 MHZ

So the range is 115-170. Will this work well? I just want to use it for MURS. Or do I want to get something that is tuned to 151 & 154 MHz (MURS)? Is there something like this? What does it mean to be pre-tuned?

That looks to be a half wave antenna, so it's probably got about 20MHz of bandwidth below 2.0:1 SWR. It also seems to have similar spec's as the Browning you ordered. I know it shows a different frequency range, but I think that is typical Tram/Browning BS marketing.

Since Tram doesn't include a chart showing where it's tuned, it's unlikely it's going to work well across that much spectrum. Likely it's centered somewhere in the middle, which might actually work well for MURS.

Only way to know for sure is to put it on an analyzer, or hook it up to your radio and check SWR.

would that 20MHZ be centered between the 115-170 at about 142? is there another murs antenna that you would recommend?

Here's a spec sheet from Tram:

Shows the lowest VSWR between 150 and 155 MHz which is perfect for MURS.

"Pre-tuned" is usually marketing-speak for you can't cut or adjust the length of the antenna to make it work better on a particular frequency. You get what you get right out of the box with no changes possible.

Yes sir. Same model number and everything.

No idea why the frequency spread is different.
