• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Motorola ASTRO Consolette model number L20KSS9PW1AN im trying to set up remote MC3000's using a digital junction box.

The MC3000s can change the channel, and the other function switches work. The PTT button on the MC3000 keys the radio and makes it transmit. The display is also displaying the proper channel name.

The issue is no audio is trnamsiting and non is being recived on the MC3000.

I have opened the L3208 Digital junction box and verified the ASTRO led light is blicking.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Was the xtl already set up for deskset operation or is it the first time it's being connected to a deskset?

I can't remember, but I think there are fuses for the audio paths inside the MC3000.

Any update on this? I'm also trying to set up a XTL consolette to MC3000 but the MC3000 is not even connecting. I only get a transmit, intercom and busy light turning on on the deskset....

I am also trying to set up an Astro Spectra (will be updated with XTL) I have a L04JKH9PW9AN radio with a RCH3000 with a model number sticker of PL3030A with firmware DDL 4D.
I first would like to try and set up a single remote first, and I guess I need the wiring to the J-2 to Cat-5 cable on the back of the Consolette if that's where it goes . Does the RJ-45 follow standard 568-B configuration or do I need to swap wires, maybe with a wall jack box.

Connecting to a L3208A I get Fail 01/90 the radio has a TRC board not an audio board, but from info on other posts you can hook up to J-2 directly or with the L3280.

The radio has a T/R board, so I have to go with a J-2 connection.

To continue that's exactly what I found, I used a standard serial jumper from J-2 to the L3208 DJB, and a standard RJ-45 cable to the 3000, but I suspect that there is a wiring issue since I have no TX audio (remote is NIB), RX audio and all buttons work.

There have been other posts of hooking the 3000 directly to the J-2, and I need to find the wiring for that. Since the JCB I have only supports one RCH (remote control head).

I am looking for CDN1337 now, which looks like it handles up to 7 RCH's.
