In a move that was expected Oswego deputy chief Norwood is leading the charge to encrypt Kendall County Police 1 & 3, they're requesting the quote as soon as possible from a beep the radios they have already are digital all they need is to switch the mode on p1 & 3

They were testing it earlier this morning it just went live this month all agencies now have the radios that are capable to be on that frequency unsure what it is still going to be used for

Also yesterday on police 7 they were doing a series of tone test off of there tone generator basically the tones you hear after a LCC Dispatch

Putting an update on this the police 3 units which are Plano Yorkville and Montgomery have been on the police 5 frequency (Tac Ch) for a few days now . I'm guessing they are upgrading the 3 frequency for encryption although it hasn't been said in the meeting notes for kencom.

the 3 units are back on CH 3 in the clear but The units Radios are P25, But the dispatch is analog very strange

It was some sort of patch to police 5 today everyone is normal and on anolog

Last night at around 7pm Kendall County Sheriff's & Oswego PD dispatch traffic switched over to P5 the encrypted tactical channel. Before and after the switch there seem to be some sort of interference going on the channel with what sounded like an open key with random beeps going on and off. At this time they are still on P5 and am unsure if this is the start of encryption of the main dispatch channel or technician's trying to fix the channel. The beeps and open key stopped after 10:00 PM.

As I make this they have just returned to police 1 it is still NFM

Latest meeting notes suggest Kendall PD will be digital by this fall after current projects are done. Unsure if full time encryption is being pursued as they didn't mention it in this latest meeting.

At least digital for all of KenCom. Analog is dead around these parts. Encryption is another matter. Any moron with a 25.00 Chinese radio can get on KenCom channels now. Digital is a start then on to encryption

You are correct KenCom has dragged there feet compared to other departments, there is not even a Starcom tower in Kendall Co, some of there audio is really low ...

Fully encrypted or switching from clear to encrypted? I'm out of state at the moment I'm positive Fire 3 should be able to switch from both. And recently Kendall did put in their meeting notes they needed to fix the fire radios before doing anything with PD so they could be testing on Fire 3

There actually 2 towers in Kendall and, Kendall is pretty well covered on starcom just by the Troop 3 SW site along with a few others.

Throughout today while listening Oswego units have sounded "digital" and yet it's coming over as NFM unsure what this is. Both battalion 1 and engine 3 have sounded like this for the past few minutes and been going on and off all day. Dose anyone have any explanation? This sounds like some sort of patch from a digital channel and yet there has been no activity on Fire 3. Audio linked below

What program are you using to log the encrypted channel My scanner isn't picking any of the gargled noise?
