You should ask this question in the Arkansas forum. They will be more familiar with the local systems in your area and help you decide on best radio. The SDS 100/200 are the top of the line scanners which come with a high price tag. The 436/536 could possibly work just fine for less money. Good luck.

Your main thing to consider as to 'which scanner is the best' pretty much boils down to simulcast sites. If your home county is on AWIN, see if the site(s) that cover your area are listed as Simulcast. To name some that are listed as Simulcast, look at Fort Smith, Little Rock, and Benton County, all of these being designated as such. (There are a number of others in addition to these three.) If your home county, or counties adjacent to you, are simulcast, then the SDS200 might be your best choice. That would also be the case if you mounted the scanner in your vehicle, and traveled to or through some of the simulcast areas. If your county was not simulcast, nor any of it's neighbors, and you do not plan to put the scanner in your vehicle when traveling, then the BCD536HP would also be a good choice. The SDS200 & BCD536HP are easy to program, and have the full database so that you could get started with just location & a range setting.
