Krispy Kreme to the rescue, sort of

Krispy Kreme free donuts

While it's not a service recovery, Krispy Kreme is at least making those impacted by Verizon's major outage today feel a little bit better. The iconic doughnut chain has confirmed to TechRadar that it'll be serving up free original glazed doughnuts from 5 PM to 7 PM across the United States at its locations as a 'sweet backup plan.'

That's pretty great, and I can confirm a Krispy Kreme original glazed can really hit the spot. If only Verizon would provide another update!

Somebody please, make this make sense. :):coffee:
(For the record I love those doughnuts)
Nice gesture by Krispy Kreme. Their doughnuts are OK, but like Dunkin, they cannot compare to doughnuts from our local bakery,
Donuts give me heartburn, as does Verizon.
Agree about Verizon! Krispy Kreme doughnuts are fried. I can taste the oil in them. Get doughnuts from a good bakery - they are baked, not fried.

What Verizon outage?

^
It's a joke. I don't have Verizon and it doesn't affect me.

What Verizon outage?
All major news agencies carried it yesterday. Much of Verizon cell phone nationwide was out for about 5 hours including areas in MA, VA, FL, TX, and elsewhere. My phone was sent into SOS mode (emergency calls only) but I am not sure that worked as I had zero bars. I went over to local Verizon office. It was full of people with the same problem. Even doing email on other providers was a problem because some of the require 2 step verification with the pass-coded coming on ones cell phones. A friend called me to go to the ER with a severe infection and I never got the call due to my phone being Verizon (hers was not) and now she is needing psychiatric care from that incident. Keep your landlines--my landline, also Verizon, worked fine but I had not given that friend that number.

+1! Redundancy is the key.
Unfortunately, the former Bells are fighting tooth and nail to get rid of old POTS lines. I just got rid of my last few at work because AT&T was charging over $300 per line. The VOIP replacements that are being pushed don't seem to be as rugged and resilient as the POTS lines they are replacing.

Sad, but true. The POTS lines are proven resilient - eliminating them is a mistake, IMHO. We had one POTS line when Sandy hit, plus a FIOS landline. Unfortunately, the POTS line was not activated, but it did have power. The FIOS line was out as soon as the battery went.

Hopefully no Verizon cellphone users needed 911 yesterday. (My cell is on AT&T)
