DuPage Sheriff and PDs Moving to Encryption

It sounds like the process for the DuPage County Sheriff's Office and local PDs switching over to encryption has likely begun. The Sheriff's Office is currently using Interop 1 (TG 2633) for dispatch. Court Services is using Interop 7 (TG 2639). PDs dispatched by DU-COMM and ACDC have been moved to some of the "Local" TGs.

We've seen this before with other PDs that have switched to encryption - dispatch gets changed to a different TG while their legacy dispatch talkgroup gets prepared for encryption.

DU-COMM 3W units were moved over to Wheaton Local (TG 2680) shortly after 5:30 this morning. DU-COMM said this was due to Motorola making "radio talkgroup updates", and units were told to stay on Wheaton Local until further notice. Glen Ellyn Local (TG 2679) was given as the secondary talkgroup while work is being performed.

DU-COMM 1 East units were moved over to Lombard Local (TG 2672), guessing that Villa Park Local (TG 2673) is the secondary.

DU-COMM 3 East units were moved over to Elmhurst Local (TG 2674), with Oakbrook Terrace Local (TG 2675) to be used as the secondary.

DU-COMM 1 South units were moved over to Lisle Local (TG 2686), unknown what the secondary is. They were told that when Motorola was done with the updates that they'd be switching over to their secure primary channel in Zone B.

DU-COMM 3 South units were moved over to Oak Brook Local (TG 2694), with Hinsdale Local (TG 2696) to be used as the secondary.

DU-COMM 7 South units were moved over to Downers Grove Local (TG 2692), with Darien Local (TG 2685) to be used as a their secondary.

DU-COMM 1 North units were moved over to Roselle Local (TG 2684), guessing that Hanover Park Local (TG 2677) is the secondary.

DU-COMM 1 West units were moved over to Carol Stream Local (TG 2676), guessing that Bartlett Local (TG 2678) is the secondary.

DU-COMM 3 West is detailed above.

DU-COMM 7 West units were moved over to West Chicago Local (TG 2682), with Warrenville Local (TG 2681) to be used as their secondary.

ACDC Police 1 units were moved over to Westmont Local (TG 2693) with DuPage County Forest Preserve District Local (TG 2637) to be used as their secondary.

ACDC Police 2 units were moved over to Addison Local (TG 2688), unknown what the secondary is.

ACDC Police 3 units were moved over to Glendale Heights Local (TG 2699), with Bloomingdale Local (TG 2700) to be used as their secondary.

DuPage County Sheriff units were moved over to DuPage Interop 1 (TG 2633), no secondary channel was given.

DuPage County Court Services units were moved over to DuPage Interop 7 (TG 2639), unknown what the secondary is.

Wifey has been wanting to move out of DuPage County for the last 3 years. DuPage being wide open is what kept me there. Now that PD is gone, I'm officially a fire buff now and I will let her know we can start looking LOL

Hoping they do something instead like delayed broadcast for transparency atleast. I literally only got into this hobby last year and can't listen to anything except fire and public works now.

DuPage is definitely not doing that. They didn't get the media coverage like Chicago did on encryption. I think the media coverage made Chicago do it. (My opinion)

I do know the city had an "agreement" to exclusively provide a 30 minute delayed feed to Broadcastify without archives of radio traffic. OpenMhz somehow worked around that, and not sure of the legalities involved. Many media outlets are using the archived transmissions to lead off stories, whether these are coming from OpenMhz archives, or they have some other means I'm unsure about. Whether this has paused other systems from providing delayed feeds is unknown, but it's something to consider the reasoning for not doing so.

Database shows the jail not encrypted this TG is encrypted so far COD Police is still in the clear.
