463.050 in deep SE Calgary

Hi all. I've been playing with DMR both SDR/DSD and on a MD-380 transceiver.

Tonight I was hearing some security guard type comms on 463.050 DMR. Slot 1 TG 1 Color 6.

All I see in the DB and TAFL is UofC Campus Security, but I shouldn't really be able to hear that out in McKenzie Lake with crap antennas.

Ideas?

That's what I hear on 463.05. Used to hear them well when they were on analog at Glenmore and Dearfoot.

Their license shows a decent wattage on top of the tallest building on the main campus, so it's not outside the realm of possibility you could pick it up. It's often surprising how well digital performs in weak conditions - at distances you would expect an analog signal to be garbage, digital will either work well or not work at all. As we all know, there's a very steep cliff in terms of signal reception quality - it's either decodable or it isn't.
