• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Has anyone out there done any scanner installs in a Nissan Altima? I have a '08 coupe and am looking to mount my BCT15 scanner. Figured I'd use the BC-RH96 remote head and possibly mount it somewhere near the console leaving the scanner to be mounted in the trunk. Not too sure on exact placement as the interior of the car isnt very scanner friendly. If anyone has any ideas or pictures from previous installs it would be a big help! Thanks!

If you wanted to go discreet, you can do the remote mount inside the console somehow... If you want to do it the normal way with things showing, I'd try playing around with the little ledge thing just below the heating/cooling area on the dashboard. You could screw the mount in under the black part there... again, you could try but I wouldn't suggest anything on a brand new car like that unless you definitely know what you want to do. If you know what your doing, wires definitely wont be a problem with hiding because you could run the wires through the dashboard, down the console and through the floor and have the radio in the trunk or under the rear seats. Let me know if I could explain better.

I have a 2007 Nissan Altima. I cut my center console box underneath the A/C controls and have slid radio heads and switch boxes into that slot. I can close the lid for for "security" because I sometimes park near not so friendly neighborhoods. I went to my Nissan dealer to get a quick print out of schematic diagram of the console and part numbers and then I went online and found exactly the box I needed for $80 (much cheaper than from the dealership) with shipping.

See if you can dig up some of the pictures of the new NYPD Altima's! They are going to start running about 40 of them if I recall.

Thank you all for the info and suggestions. I bought a BC-RH96 head for my BCT15 and am going to mount it under the climate controlls on the console door that flips up. Figured it would be a neat clean install with the remote head. Plus can run all the cables behind that door - out of the way. Just want to order a spare console door to use as a replacement if I sell the car.
I'll be doing the install soon so when its done I'll throw some pics up.

Thanks again!
