Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good day,
I have an 03 Mustang GT with a spoiler and need ideas on mounting a ATAS-120. The issue I'm having is that the trunk is fiberglass/plastic so that pretty much eliminates the typical K-400 and the like. I currently have Larsen NMO L-brackets for my VHF/UHF and have room for another L-bracket without the spoiler getting in the way. Do you think this mount would support an ATAS-120? This is the best picture I could find of the mount. I know the coax is wrong. I believe Larsen makes UHF coax assembly for 3/4" hole.

Thanks,

I have the same car but convertible what I did was install a dual band STI-CO on my car that replaces the factory FM antenna. It was a bit pricy but the antenna works very well and doesn't look ugly. Another option would be to install a hitch on the car and use the applicable mount for your antenna if you dont care how it looks. These cars are difficult to do installs on since the hood and trunk are fiberglass.

Hey Patrick,

I have an ATAS-120 mounted to a steel rear light guard on a SUV with a similar bracket...not an "L" but a 2 piece "mirror mount" style. I did run an additional wire from the bracket to a ground source on the vehicle to ensure it has a good ground, which is critical with the ATAS-120. No probs, works very well with a FT-857D and I'm happy with it.

I'm not familiar with the Mustang and don't know what your mounting options are, but if there is any way to mount the antenna to a bracket with contact to the frame, like from under the driver side on the rear, might be a better electrical connection than the fiberglass trunk.

It should look very cool on that GT!
