If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anybody know where to get a mount for the control head for the TM-D700A? I am looking for the Panavise/RamMount/etc... type. And/Or I need to find a replacement for the part that hold the control head that is the OEM part from Kenwood, but for some reason I cannot find the part on line (the one that holds the head and has the double sided tape on it (and kind of looks like an outstretched peacock as the base).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried the Kenwood site? I believe the "peacock" looking mount is still used for the TM-D710...or at least the brochure I saw showed one that still looked like the one from the TM-D700! You might check with someone like Amateur Electronic Supply in Las Vegas or Ham Radio Outlet in I believe Sunnyvale.

Good luck!

According to the Kenwood TM-D700 instruction manual, the "front panel mounting bracket" parts are: J29-0663-XX and J29-0664-XX. One part is the piece that the head snaps into and the other is the mounting base.

From the Kenwood TM-D710 instruction manual, the "panel holder" is J29-0663-XX and the "panel bracket" is J29-0707-XX. I believe "panel holder" is Kenwood's terminology for the piece that the head snaps into.

I know for a fact that a D710 head will snap into a D700 "panel holder" because I've done it.

My suggestion would be to contact either of the Kenwood parts depots (see Kenwood) to see if you can buy the part. I just did a search on PacParts web site and found the J29-0663-13 in stock for $6.66.

As for Lido mounts, I had one that I was using for a GPS receiver and I wasn't impressed. The mount would not retain tension on the swivel part of the mount so the GPS receiver would not stay upright. I switched to a RAM mount and find that it works much better.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. Do you have the specific ram mount part number you are using for your TM-D700 control head, by any chance?

Thanks again.

I'm using the standard Kenwood mount for the head. I use a RAM mount for the GPS receiver.
