• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Ok here we go again. Trading in the old camaro on a 98 Grand Prix GTP. Already know how I'm gonna go about getting my CB in there (Console below the radio). Now looking for ideas for the next set of additions to my radio family. Gonna get a mobile 2 meter (not sure of the exact model yet) as well as a PSR-600 base. Ideas on where to put the radios? already know what I'm going to do with the antennas. Thanks in advance. 73s

You'll love that car. Got one the same year. The Super Charger is awesome! It is somewhat of a PD magnet though, back to the Super Charger. Can't help on the install however. Been thinking about that myself for the scanner. No real good place to mount it that I can find. Right now I took the hi-tec approach with a PSR-500, the cup holder that flips out of the center armrest fits it nicely. If someone comes up with a good idea I would also be interested. I've been fighting the urge for a 996xt. With my black interior and the cool new backlight colors, I think it would look awesome at night! How are you going to run the wires/ant.??

There's a bolt hole in the subframe to put a flat metal piece over the right tailpipe. I know someone with a CB that has his antenna there. For the time being I have the PSR-500 in the cupholder. And yes i'm tempted on the 996xt as well because of the lighting. question would be where to put it. And I love the car. fun to drive.

I had a 97 that i thought i posted pictures on here, but i cant seem to find them. Perhaps it was too long ago. But anyways i used a CB mic clip to mount a bcd-496t. then i did a remote head mount for my ham rig. i used a mounting bracket that i found on the internet that i attached to the right side of the center console. Trunk lip mounts worked pretty well on that car too. I'll see if i can dig up some pictures next time I'm at home.

heres what i do what my psr 500/300.. not sure if the 98s have this, but on my 01 theres a little compartment up by the dome lights (in the center), i lift open that door and slide the scanners belt clip over the bottom of that whole compartment. works great. even better with the soft leather case from scannermaster.

Thanks for the ideas. My PSR-500 sits in one of the front cupholder I'm just wanting a base model sometime. most likely will be a 600 although i am tempted on the 996xt. It would go better with the interior and be something new to learn and different for me lol
