Default Underside clearance on NMO mount

I was planning on mounting an antenna or two on my trunk and was wondering how much space the interior parts take up. Due to the reinforcement parts of the lid, I only have 2 1 inch by 7 inch channels that giveme access to the outer metal part of the trunk lid. Iím attaching a photo for reference.

You will be fine in either. Even with the plastic protector in place the mount only intrudes about half an inch.

I’m worried about the minimal width required to install. Depth isn’t an issue.

I donít have the exact measurement but the ďclawĒ that goes under the metal is not an inch wide. I think itís closer to 1/2Ē.

Youíll be fine.

Now that I'm home the spare Motorola branded one hanging over the rafter in the garage is 7/16X15/16".

Plenty of room. Just orient the mount so it runs horizontal with those cut outs. I don't see any issues here with using regular NMO mounts.

Thanks. I didn’t think there would be a problem but I didn’t want to order up everything and then find out it won’t fit.
