I use a Yaesu FT60, and am working to make it more "base" ready. I use it alot for rx only, and 5 watts is really enough for me considering my location. I have a great sounding but older GE Mobile Communications speaker, a homemade dual-band j-pole ... the mic is an issue. The Yaesu accessory plug is funky, so I started by purchasing the more normal 2 separate-pin adaptor. I plugged the GE speaker into the bigger "speaker" hole - and that is working great. I want a nice, good sounding and "feels good in the hand" mic - like a Kenwood or Motorola model - see attached. I realize this may take some reconnections and etc., but can anyone help me figure out how to interface one of these mics with my FT60? Pin outs on the Motorola/Kenwood mics would be a good start, I think.
Thanks,
Lars
