Hey all,

I just got a new RS Pro-106 and I am having the hardest time setting up this system. I am fairly new at this. The preprogrammed data for this system (Gainesville/Alachua County) is all wrong and will not scan. Someone please help me program this; im all confused (the rebanding does it make it any easier):

Gainesville / Alachua County Trunking System, Gainesville, Florida - Scanner Frequencies

System Name: Gainesville / Alachua County
Location: Gainesville, FL
County: Alachua

Important Rebanded Note

One or more sites for this trunking system have gone through the 800 MHz rebanding process. Your scanner may be incompatible, require a firmware update or require special programming to track these sites. Please visit the RR Wiki Rebanding page for additional information.

Misc System Information

All of Alachua County and the City of Gainesville Public Safety has moved to this ASTRO Smartzone system. Most if not all communications on this system are in APCO-25 Digital mode. The system is actually run by the Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU).

To be able to monitor this rebanded system with Uniden scanners (996T, 396T, 396XT, etc), you MUST use a custom Band Plan. The default settings recommended by Uniden work: program in the control channels, then edit the band plans by setting Band Plan 1 and Band Plan 2 to this (BOTH band plans MUST be entered): Band Plan 1: - Base (lower) = 851.025 - Base (upper) = 854.000 - Offset = 440 - Polarity = + - Spacing = 25-KHz Band Plan 2: - Base (lower) = 851.0125 - Base (upper) = 868.9875 - Offset = 0 - Polarity = + - Spacing = 25-KHz Without these settings, the scanner will not go to the correct voice channels, especially when the control channel itself is on a splinter frequency (like 853.775).

Check in the Florida forum there should be somebody there that can help you get up and going. Florida Radio Discussion Forum - The RadioReference.com Forums As for a custom band plan I do not know if you need to put one in for the PRO 106 because it does for you sometimes depending on the type of system.

If I need to I will make a step by step how to program your PRO 106 which I have done for many others with success usually. It on't be until later because I have school in about 5 hours and I am tired at the moment. Don't worry there is a lot of knowledgeable people on here and will help you.:)

OsloViking, if you could that, would be great. I tried the t table thing, and still nothing. The manual isnt very good. Dont know whether to choose P25 Auto or Manual. Put in the CC and alt CCs? And then it asks something about multi site networking???

Thanks much

I would use P25 Auto...As far as multi site, are you using the scanner stationary or driving around in your car? I don't know your specific system, but if there are multiple sites, and you are driving around use the ROAM setting, if stationary use the stationary setting.

If this is a mixed mode type II system, do not use P25 instead select 800/900 since the control channel is 3600 baud. True P25 systems are 9600 baud.

Thanks all, for your expertise. You were great help. I got it to work!
Great News, Glad we all could help you. As I said there is plenty of knowledgeable people on here. If you need any more help let us know and we will try to find an answer for you.:)

So how did you like programming it manually? I myself enjoy it because I believe you gain more of understanding how it works and if you have software and it fails possibly you know you can program it manually.
