I have a Pro-528 I'm trying to setup to trunk Elgin, IL PD... Found here
Elgin Public Safety/Public Works Trunking System, Elgin, Illinois - Scanner Frequencies

I put in all the 5 frequencies in and when I send to scanner and turn it on it just flashes one of the frequencies over and over and I get nothing coming in. The only way I can listen is without trunking. What Have I done wrong? thanks

If they have rebanded, 2 of the freqs. can not be tracked with a PRO-528.

Alright... I'm looking for a new scanner now anyway. This one is getting pretty old, I might check out that new GRE-PSR. Thanks for the advice

Hi, new guy here from Lake Stevens, WA
I just picked up a PRO-528 at a garage sale for $1
Did I just burn a dollar or is it still a viable scanner?
I loaded it with everything from the database but I never hear any conversations.

Welcome to Radio Reference!

It's worth a dollar even if you just look at it! :D

It's an older model, analog only, doesn't support rebanding. However it's good for the following:

Aircraft
Weather
Amaeture/HAM Radio
FRS/GMRS, MURS, Business Bands
Marine
Etc.

Most of the 'trunked' systems (if not all) shown near the bottom of this link will not be compatible.

More scanner info here:

I've had one since about 2006. I bought it when I was first getting into scanning and thought trunking was the same as digital. It's a good scanner though, I have all kinds of frequencies programmed into it and it covers a wider range than many of my others. It is often in search mode for long periods, does very well there.

I'm using mine to listen to the analog fire depts on our edacs provoice system. Of course it doesn't pick up the provoice, but all the analog fire departments come in loud and clear.

I just figured out that the DC socket does not work.
I took the scanner apart and broken plastic parts from the socket fell out.
I am a capable solderer so I'm looking for a replacement but none look the same.
The one on the pcb has 5 prongs 2 look to just be mounts but the 3 in the back are all in a single row. The ones on ebay and and radioshack and other places have 3 prongs but they are not aligned in a row.
Does anyone know where to get a replacement socket for the pro-528?

I thought Elgin encrypted

I'm not sure what that means. I'm referring to the DC 9V power socket.

Once I removed it from the pcb, I guess the back 3 pins weren't exactly in a row, but there isn't one coming out of the middle of the bottom like I see in replacement sockets.
