197 Directional Keypad

I'm attempting to rename some of the tags for the tgrps on my 197. But I cannot access everything I have programmed using the directional keypad. When I put the radio in manual mode and press the right arrow, it goes to a random tgrp and beeps while staying on that tgrp even after I press the right arrow a 2nd time.

When I press the down arrow key it goes to a random conv freq and beeps while staying on the conv freq after pressing the down arrow a 2nd time Same thing with the left arrow too.

Any idea as to what's wrong?

U have to press "pgm", F2 twice, scroll to the TG in the proper SList where the "*" is, then enter the menu and scroll to "tag TG, press "sel", after taging it press "E" then "save'.....
