I'm trying to program my Pro-39 which I haven't used much for years. Read the user manual re: how to input new frequencies. I entered MAN (Manual); PGM (Program); inputted the frequency; then hit enter per the user's manual. The frequency was 860.9375 (LA city fire). However, the "3" number in this frequency would not record, ie no clicking sound and would not register in the data bank.

Not sure what is causing this, but vaguely remember something like this from years ago.

Can anyone give me an idea what might be wrong? Hardware or software problem"

Thanks

Try programming 860.940 instead.

The PRO-39 is an ancient scanner and likely won't accept the frequency you are trying to enter.

On page 33 of the owner's manual the 800 MHz step size is listed as 12.5 kHz so the radio should accept 860.9375. Are you sure the '3' button on the keypad is working?
