I am new to trunked scanning but my local police are giong to an apco 25 digital system and I have recently bought a pro 96 scanner. I am hearing they will be transmitting in the 700 mhz band and I am not sure if the pro 96 will be able to track this system. I have read some posts on the subject and I don't believe it will work. If it will not work does anyone know of a good scanner for this type system.

Thanks for any help,
Ronny

While the Pro-96 can receive 700mhz frequencies, it cannot trunk-track them.

Also, keep in mind you need to do the extended frequency range using the Win96 program in order to hear them conventionally on 700MHz.

700mhz Pro96

The Uniden BCD396T and BCD996T and I believe the new GRE 500 and 600 will track the 700 band as long as it is not encrypted.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. I guess I will be looking for another scanner. One more thing, is it possible for them to do another upgrade to give the 96 the cacability to track the 700 mhz.

Thanks again,
Ronny

NOT possible at all, thats why there is the "fantastic" GRE500/600....Here on the IL-Starcom 700/800 system on my PRO96/2096 they just do not keep up on the 700mgz part of the system and it seems the 700 sensativity is not as good in digital as the 800...My GRE500 and Uniden 396 work great on the 700 trunked digital....
