Hey there, I was wondering if you guys can help me narrow down what all these talks groups are. I only have them in hex so bare with me. Some are digital and some are analog a few were even encrypted.

New TGs

I've been using the wildcard TG on a digital scanner for sometime now monitoring SCRRS and see many TGs come up not in the DB. I have not clearly ID'd them however. But my list is in decimal rather than hex.

I converted the ones I could. Next time you can use the scientific calculator options to enter as HEX, convert to DEC and multiply by 16.

I don't think the other ones (the ones I didn't convert) were good talkgroups, ie, created in error by the program, trunk88 I presume?

Yes it was by Trunk88 . The program showed alot of activity on the talkgroups i listed and if Trunk88 doesn't work good, Id sure like to know a better program to use. Also i will use the calculator to format in to dec for future posts.

From my experience it just gives a lot of bogus info.

I've confirmed on some pretty official documents I've seen that no talk group on this system has a HEX that begins with a number. So these don't appear to be valid.

Did you multiply the original value by 16?

Well some of the hex talk groups that start with a number are real talk groups. The audio comes over my scanner either in digital or digital encryption. I don't know where you got your info from, but it seems to me who ever or what ever gave it to you is trying to hide something.

We'll I guess I better call Sacramento County and tell them their information is wrong.

Trust me. My info is legit. I don't think anything is being hidden.

Basic Conversion Functions for Radio/Scanner Operations

Enter your HEX into the "Enter Motorola 3" to get your scanner TGID (Uniden)

There are some Talk Groups lower than 7280, some P25

For example
TGID 12944 HEX 329 is legit with P25 Encrypted

There are many other unidentified Talk Groups with HEX numbers that start with a number. A lot equate to Talk Groups with "low" numbers compared to the rest of the TGID

I venture to guess (JUST A GUESS) this is all part of the P25 transition and "in-progress" work.

Remember when all the TGID changes a few years back?

I imagine that some of these unknowns won't be on any documents that have been passed around or found.

P25 mode on SCRRS

Does that mean we should be running our scanners in P25 mode, rather than MOT 800 mode on the SCRRS? When in MOT mode, the scanner expects TGs to be in multiples of 16.

12944 is something to do with SPD but it's encrypted so we'll probably never know.

I have found some unidentified Talk Groups at 16 versus 32 - 19328 and 19360 for example
