Used to hear them all the time on the freqs listed in the DB.
Last week or so they’ve been silent while flying.
New radios maybe?

I hear them all of the time on their UHF and before landing and taking off at Gillespie field but you may be in an area where you are getting not so good reception I don't know but you could try using a good UHF antenna and see if that helps.

Thanks Mike.
To be clear I had no issue listening to them on the 450 either on my 396 handheld or 996 base. I just noticed they’ve been silent for a few days but are still up in the air.

I got an email that the chopper would be out of service for a day to fly to LA to "reprogram a frequency".

The chopper will fly a normal morning schedule tomorrow, but the ship needs to pop up to LA to have a frequency re-programmed.

The chopper launches every morning around 5AM or so...they use the radio to establish their microwave connection, so if someone has the time to do some 450-451 scanning to see if they changed frequencies...assuming they didn't move to the Fisher Con+ system.

Just saw Rick’s email regarding Repeater hardware.
Sounds like they were offline and should be back soon.

Chopper 8 has been bouncing back and forth between 450.2625 and 450.5000 ctcss 100.0. They just talk on whatever someone keys up on, there is no chat of changing frequencies, just standard traffic and then a few minutes later, they have switched channels.
