I've been picking up a data channel on 853.6875 with a SID of 4521. I also cross-referenced this with the FCC database and found license WPCP221. I could not pick up any data on the existing data channels that are listed in the database. Have they rebanded completely or are they in the process of rebanding?

Unfortunately, I monitor from San Leandro and reception is fringe at best. If someone in the area could confirm, it would be much appreciated and someone can update the database if so.

I think they are in the process. This is the first report of a change.

Please submit future updates to the DB as they become available.

Just a further update, I am now picking up the data channel on 852.6875. I will submit these to the DB now.

They've almost certainly completed the rebanding process. Yesterday morning (old 866MHz freqs), there was an announcement on one of the PD TGs that the radio techs were going to be working on the system until about noon and that it might go down. Not long after, the old freqs went silent.

Early afternoon, searching with my PSR-500 uncovered a Mot3600 CC for SysID 4521 on 853.687500MHz. Entering that into the PSR-500 and PRO-107, along with the "rebanded" trunking tables, resulted in normal traffic on the scanners. Later in the day, they switched the CC to 852.687500MHz. Voice traffic has been heard on those two CC freqs, as well as on 851.600000MHz and 852.300000MHz. The license also shows 851.462500MHz, 853.425000MHz, and 853.800000MHz, but I haven't yet heard any kind of traffic on those.

In summary:
852.687500 : confirmed CC/VC
853.687500 : confirmed CC/VC
851.600000 : confirmed VC
852.300000 : confirmed VC
851.462500 : in license, no traffic heard
853.425000 : in license, no traffic heard
853.800000 : in license, no traffic heard

Unfortunately, my newest scanner is now a brick for that system.

Trunking Tables

Hi,

While not new to scanning (started in 1970), I am reluctant to say that I still haven't grasped the reband trunking tables to monitor rebanded systems.

I have (and have had) most every major scanner out there. Now I have to figure out how to monitor the rebanded system using my Pro-107, Pro-106, Pro-96 and Uniden 396t/396XT radios.

Can someone provide information or point me in the right direction to save time and keep my sanity? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

There's a top-level Wiki article about rebanding: Rebanding - The RadioReference Wiki

For the PRO-96, you must use 3rd-party software to enter the required trunking tables.
For the PRO-107, you must use the supplied software to enter the tables.
For the PRO-106, you can enter the tables directly into the scanner or use 3rd-party software.

For those three scanners, the Santa Clara system can be monitored by creating two custom table entries, in this order:
Code:
CH Lo Ch Hi Offset Base Step
440 559 440 851.025000 25.000
0 719 0 851.012500 25.000

I live in Santa Clara and have a Uniden BC346xt. I know zip about scanners, but successfully programmed my scanner a year ago using this database. Now that they have rebanded, will my scanner work? Do I need to reprogram using the database? Sorry I'm so ignorant, but I just want to hear what's happening around my city. Thanks for any help.

I also have a Uniden BC346XT. I use Freescan to program my scanner. Aside from entering the new frequencies, do I need to do anything else?

Apparently even a conventional scanner can now handle the two freqs. I've got a BC95xlt and it picks it up just fine. just have the delay off for those channels and it's not too hard to follow.

re: santa clara, uniden 346xt, proscan: Nope! It says to select "trunk band settings". I have no such tab or option. I even downloaded newest version of Proscan, and it wasn't there either.

Rebanded Uniden

I have the BC346XT. I re-entered the new control channels thru the scanner, and now I see the control freq signal, but I'm only getting what seems like a few transmissions. It's hard to tell as Santa Clara is pretty quiet to begin with.

Do I also need to enter the two band plan table data entries as a custom band plan? I would think if I needed that I wouldn't hear anything...

Yes, you need to enter the custom table entries. You're hearing some traffic because some of the frequencies used by this system have the same channel -> frequency mapping as a non-rebanded system.

Ugh.

I must have messed something up; it seemed like it was working before.

Now, the screen is showing the scrolling ID SEARCH with the up arrow on the second line, but there is no traffic and it just scans forever. Strange things from normal:

- There are no signal bars displayed during scan anymore, or they sometimes flash on and off as if it's scanning across them

- The third line shows "NFM" instead of the control freq I am used to seeing

- If I hit Hold, the freq shows 852.6875 (what I thought was the control freq) and there is no control freq "buzz saw" sound I usually hear when hitting hold during scan. And, if I hold on this frequency, sometimes I hear voice traffic. I thought this was a control freq?

- I have 852.6875 and 853.6875 as the frequencies for the site.

- I entered the custom band plan as prescribed

Anyone know what I did wrong?

The control channel is currently 853.800000MHz.

We can add that to the list of confirmed channels (from post #6 above, it was in the license but wasn't subsequently added to the DB).
