Can anyone confirm.. Got this off a local board.

I was talking with Bob Kelty, he said Oakland will switch over to new 800MHz rebanding tomorrow. He also mentioned their system is "alpha foxtrot uniform."

I have yet to set up my scanners to follow SF, Oak, or SMO. I guess all those freq and TGs looks like too much work for me (I don't go to those areas much). I guess SMO will use 480 MHz for some time before big switchover to 700 MHz (I cannot help but think of a huge money pit that system will be with additional towers required to cover all that rural area).

The Uniden 396XT and 996XT will scan both analog and P25 traffic.

The report in the news report noted earlier is so wrong on many levels, and lacks some professional phrasing. It won't of itself make things easier for other agencies to integrate - if they are on a different system, they will have to use one of the interconnect systems.

I also love the statement "The city officially throws the switch on the new squawk boxes at noon today."

I did a small search and couldn't find anything with a time on when they would switch. I currently have my pro-164 listening, can hear every transmission on FD and PD. We'll see how it continues for tomorrow.

Here are the new freqs. For a PSR- 500 scanner Set it to P-25 auto and add a wildcard in and it will work just fine.

Oakland Upgrade

Yes Ben, Oakland has indeed moved to APCO P25. It was all over the news yesterday. They've been having trouble with the old EDACS system, experiencing dead areas in certain parts of the city.

Cosmo I am curious what was your source for those freqs for the system? Are those the GWIN reservoir tower freqs?
