I note the DB was recently updated to eliminate the "B" range of SFPD talkgroups, some of which were recently used during the Super Bowl extravaganza. The SFPD list is improved over earlier iterations but incomplete. Anyone know why this happened?

Can you say specifically which talkgroups you are talking about? 13840 was active during the Super Bowl, but it was used by SFMTA parking control officers and referred to as "Event 1".

These TGs disappeared from the San Francisco PD TG listings a few weeks ago. Some of them were active during the Super Bowl. Anyone know why these were deleted from the DB?

They were removed because a lot of the tacticals listed in the database are inaccurate/outdated. That's why I'm asking specifically which talkgroups you saw active during the Super Bowl. The only one I saw was 13840, which was listed as "SFPD Tac 2" but is actually an SFMTA talkgroup.

Like you, the only one in this group I heard during the event was 13840. But over the past few years I have heard at least 14000, 14032 and 14064. Do you have knowledge that these are no longer in use?

The "B" zone in SFPD patrol radios contain the event talkgroups, as well as some backup and mutual aid channels. Specialized units like VRT, SID, and GTF have digital encrypted talkgroups in the 16-400 TGID range. No SFPD radios have a "B" zone consisting of the talkgroups that were removed.

If you hear traffic on any of those talkgroups, I encourage you to post your findings here or submit them to the DB. If you hear them referred to by channel name, that would be ideal so we can verify their usage.

The issue we are running into here is that SFPD has two sets of portable radios in circulation. If one were to ever run Unitrunker on the SF CERS system, it's apparent who has which type of radio because they occupy separate blocks of radio IDs.

The main group of radios is issued to general patrol officers, and does not contain any encrypted talkgroups.

The second group of radios is issued only to specialized units and command staff (Gang Task Force, SID, Robbery, Narcotics, etc), and contains a bunch of digital encrypted talkgroups for these teams.

In both sets of radios, the A zone is identical, while the B and C zones are different. The submitter in question saw a template for the regular SFPD patrol radios, saw that there were no channels labelled "Tactical" in the B zone, and asked us to delete them. The submitter did not have all the information, or consider the second set of radios in circulation when making this request.

As a DB admin I am very cautious to delete ANYTHING from the database. If I do, I try and attach it to the wiki (though this is a lot of extra work) so that we can restore the old data if necessary. Even if the Tacticals are incorrect (which they probably were, they appear to have originated in a Kelty GRS book many years ago), some of those talkgroups are probably valid and would have been lost had they not been put in the wiki or reposted by a user like "footage" did.

Here's the complete list of what was deleted, from the wiki:

Old SFPD Tacticals

13296 33f A PAROLE Parole Law Talk
13808 35f A SFPD TAC 1 Tactical 1 - Administration Law Tac
13840 361 A SFPD TAC 2 Tactical 2 Law Tac
13872 363 A SFPD TAC 3 Tactical 3 Law Tac
13904 365 A SFPD TAC 4 Tactical 4 Law Tac
13936 367 A SFPD TAC 5 Tactical 5 Law Tac
13968 369 A SFPD TAC 6 Tactical 6 (Mounted/Honda/Air/Sea) Law Talk
14000 36b A SFPD TAC 7 Tactical 7 Law Tac
14032 36d A SFPD TAC 8 Tactical 8 Law Tac
14064 36f A SFPD B15 Robbery Apprehension Team Law Talk
14096 371 A SFPD TAC 10 Tactical 10 Law Tac
14128 373 A SFPD TAC 11 Tactical 11 Law Tac
14160 375 A SFPD TAC 12 Tactical 12 Law Tac
14192 377 A SFPD TAC 13 Tactical 13 Law Tac
14224 379 A SFPD EVT 14 Tactical 14 (Event) Law Tac
14256 37b A SFPD TAC 15 Tactical 15 Law Tac
14288 37d A SFPD NARC 1 Narcotics 1 - Administration Law Talk
14544 38d A SFPD INV 1 Investigations 1 - Administration Law Talk
14576 38f A SFPD SID 1 Special Investigations Division 1 Law Talk
14704 397 A SFPD TRNG 1 Training 1 Law Talk
14736 399 A SFPD TRNG 2 Training 2 Law Talk

A lot of these may be invalid, or may have been retired or deprogrammed by the radio shop over the years, we just don't know. If you guys can help us out by posting which of these you have personally monitored (if any), we'd appreciate it.

SFPD TG 13824 (old SFPD Tac 3) in use

yesterday. 3-Paul 100x units trying to contact base. Could have been transmitting on an unintended channel, but at least some radios still configured for this.

The talkgroup which used to be listed as Tac 3 is 13872. Did you hear any reference to a channel name for 13824?
