Newbie question, What if any are the frequencies used by the Parole/Probation team branch of the Police departments in the San Francisco County, San Mateo County and general SF Bay area listening range? Are Parole units a taskforce type unit under local City Police frequencies or under Sheriff department frequencies or talk groups?

Perhaps should fill a few empty banks with these

Are Parole and Probation tactical team or field operation units one and the same? Found only talkgroup listed for the entire Bay Area and this was only listed in the San Francisco Police Department TRS talkgroup, but that's it. Found nothing in other neighboring San Mateo, Santa Clara, Oakland or Alameda counties.

Did a search on this web site and only came up with one post, with no frequency numbers, but it did indicate that the poster regarded Parole units to be much more dangerous. If this is so perhaps these frequencies should be more beneficial for monitoring, not only from the standpoint of family protection, but also for the sheer thrill of listening to SWAT team gun battle type action as well.

TIA for any APCO25, TRS, Analog etc. frequencies, talkgroup info, those being filled with most action preferred so they can be programed first!

Parole is part of the California Department of Corrections. The task force is usually comprised of local law enforcement agencies, Parole Agents, and Probation Officers. They normally use on of the local departments frequencis, for interop purposes'. This way the local officers can contact agents directly.
Hope this answers your question.

It probably varies somewhat by area. Here in Sac (I waited to see if there were any Bay Area responses), they have their own radio identifiers. They operate on the Sheriff and PD channels, with their own call signs. They don't have their own talkgroups. As far as I know, they don't have their own radio systems. Anything else is probably cell phones.

The PD and SO here run "Parole Impact Teams" that do nothing but try to find and violate parolees. You'll hear "Impact" units, and that's them. Haven't heard them recently, but they were always in the $**4 when they were around.

Was trying to find out the mystery and mystique surrounding these well shrouded Parole and Probation units without any success. Thanks to both of you for the info!

With millions and millions in State of California budgets, you'd think they could buy their own, what a surprise that they can get by using other pd's stations. Now that's really called living off the land

It's not so much a move of desperation as pragmatism. When the stuff hits the fan (as it usually does chasing down parolees), you want to be able to talk to the troops. AKA the local cops. Thus, it actually makes the most sense to have a portable radio with the local systems, and talk in the non-emergency situations via cell phone to your co workers and office.

Any CA Bay Area Parole police department frequencies

In San Francisco you'll hear Parole units on the SFPD talkgroups, as "One Queen" units. They have their own MTS2000's with the district stations programmed. In addition the Sheriff's Department Police, Parole, and Probation does weekly sweeps, or home visits, or both, usually on Tuesdays or Thursdays in the afternoon to evening. You can hear that activity usually on PD-A9 (dec: 13104) and SO-A16 (dec: 16272)
