The 396T was the only scanner in the x96 line where only 1 site is allowed per system, I believe.

There are ways of getting around that. One could program multiple systems and use the same system quick key. Or a variation is to assign system quick keys by region, turning on only the appropriate SQK for a given region. For talkgroups, it's a case of copying and pasting from one system to another, to another.

Fortunately the way trunked scanning works, one could have "distant" talkgroups (such as Nashville) in the "Memphis" system. Unlike conventional scanning where the scanner samples each channel for activity, in trunked scanning only the control channel is being monitored for activity on a talkgroup in "the list". So there is no disadvantage to having what would be considered extraneous talkgroups for a system.
