Default Monitor tab stuck on Mute

I am a new user of WIN500, I finally got the software communicating with my PRO-652 scanner and thought all was well. On the Monitor / Control Tab the MUTE field is in bold and I cannot find any way to change it. If I hit the WX control the MUTE goes away and I can hear audio from the scanner. I am not feeding the audio into my computer. I have the detailed help file for the software which is mentioned elsewhere in these forums. If I exit WIN500 and just use the scanner controls I still do not have audio except on the WX channels or if I enter a frequency into the scanner manually from without the computer, I do get audio.. Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Default Further Discussion

I have now downloaded a fresh copy of Win500 but still have the same problem (yes, I purchased the program originally). If I enter a trunked frequency manually into the scanner I will hear sound; but if I try to access that frequency through the Win500 program the MUTE will be active. I have studied the manuals again to see if I missed anything with no luck. I know that there are alternatives to WIN 500 but cannot afford to just spend money trying things to see if they work. Any recommendations? Thank you.

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing? That will help people here help you figure the problem out.

Default Screenshot of Win500

Note “MUTE” in bold to the left of the orange window. When I manually enter a frequency that field is “grayed-out” and I can hear sound from the scanner. I cannot find anyway to change that field (clicking the mouse, etc.).

The 'mute' you're seeing is scanner audio status; it's not a button. As you noticed, it's grayed out because either 1)the scanner is receiving enough signal to un-mute the speaker or 2) the squelch is set to minimum, allowing audio to come through the speaker.

Glenn, thank you for your response. OK, the software does not control the volume or mute functions. I was able to cause the MUTE to come on by playing with the squelch on manual searches. So, for some reason my scanner audio/squelch (RS Pro-652) is not working with programmed scanner frequencies. But it is working with manual entry scans or the preset Search function built-in to the scanner. Not sure how to proceed at this point; I could reset the scanner to the factory presets and re-build my file from Radio Reference/Win 500. This is assuming that something is messed-up internally.
Can anyone give me some input as to whether this is the best way to proceed? Thanks again to all looking at this, Reid
