I have tried, but have not had any luck. I can program my BCD536HP fine, and can control the 996P2, but have not had any luck programming the scanner.

You didn't notice that the 996 is listed in ProScan's Scanner Type list?

Actually I am trying to read the scanner. It was already programmed with Freescan. I do see it listed on the list of scanners covered by the software, I just can't get it to read the scanner.
Am I doing something wrong? I am using the USB port connected to the scanner.

Yes, of course. I thought maybe that just meant you can use Proscan to control the scanner from the computer which it does. I just cannot get it to read the systems and frequencies already in the radio. Perhaps I should have explained it more clearly. I connect the USB and all I get is the computer control screen, not the programming window.

I am getting "Unable to open Comm Port. Check if other software is using port 3. There is no other software running on the computer =. I restarted it just to be sure.

did you download and install the special driver software that is required for the 996p2.

No. Maybe that is the problem. Where can I download it?
Thanks
Mike

Ishmole,

Are you using the front port?
Did you install the serial driver? Instructions here -> BCD996P2 < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

After that, use the ProScan Comm. Port Auto Detect. Advise if it works or not

Thank You! I have got it up and running and able to program! I was looking for a separate programming window to open up like it does with the 536.

Very nice. The more I use it, the more I like it. I am glad I bought it.

Thank you for your support! Great program!
Mike
