Dumb question. To assign a Quick Key to a system, using Database/QuickKeys/Search Keys, you toggle it on using the grid and type in the description such as Aircraft. After that, if you change your mind, you can set the quick key to 'not assigned', but you can't delete the old quick key description.

In my case, you must check "systems" and unset the QK, then check "custom searches" and unset any QK. Once there is no QK assignment anywhere in the database, the QK tab QuickKeys/Search Keys will reset itself to not assigned.
