External rubber duckie

How well would an 800mhz rubber duckie antenna, like the Radio Shack one, work if it was mast mounted and fed with a good quality coax?

It really depends on the coax used, the area it is located in, and honestly I would think it would be better to just mount a "real" antenna of some sort if you are going to go through the trouble of mounting one.

A 3-5db mobile with a groundplane kit would do wonders compared to the RS duck.
