I'll be installing a Diamond D-130 and what type of connector is best at the antenna? I'll be running LMR-400 UltraFlex to my Uniden BCT15 (BNC end). The model J terminates in an SO-239 jack (it accepts a PL-259) or model NJ but terminates to an N connector?

A few other goodies include:

Tripod
Mast
Weather tape
Ground wire (insulators needed?)
Coaxial Surge Protector (is this a must too?)

I hope I have everything picked out and a good choice antenna wise. I'll be mainly on 150, 460-470 and maybe some trunck.

Any further advise would be super!

jobes - you did not mention whether or not you already have the crimp tool and crimp connectors.

if so go with the n conn.

if your gonna attempt to solder i wish u luck. its tough to do with lmr400 without
destroying or distorting the cable due to all the heat involved. in this case go with
the pl259 as it is easier to solder than the n.
